Maushi Aaji

In this walk of life, one comes across, at either one point or if fortunate, multiple times, different individuals who inspire you and knowingly unknowingly, you observe and embody a learning from them that enriches your belief in some aspect of life.

Some personalities and their doings or just way of life have an impact on yours that linger.. I've had my share of these over the years ....

And just when you think you've seen it all, another teacher (of life) comes your way! Maushi Aaji is how she is dearly referred as. Ranjana Sutar, gracefully aged at 57 years, is my daughter's maalish wali, but that's just a mere title. What she has been, on a daily basis, giving my almost 1 year old child stretches way beyond just the massage and bath.

Everyday she walks into my home with a zest that spells 'Tamu Masterrrr'. She doesn't need a doorbell, her arrival is announced loud and clear enveloped with this love she has for my child.

Be it the scorching sun, the uncalled showers or her own body not giving her the best of itself, she has not used any of these as an excuse to miss even a single day to give Tamanna her favourite time of the day - bath time :) and I'm speaking of a good 10 months she's been around.

If you are a witness to the hour and a half she spends with my daughter, you would feel you are listening to a radio channel.. there's music (oh a lot of singing.. Chiuu Tai chya pillla being an absolute blockbuster) , commentary of every move or reaction Tamanna gives, teachings.. a new word or action and she also feeds lunch to my baby making sure she's consumed enough for that meal of the day.

She does not give up her enthusiasm, her level of energy or her decible of voice .. 'high' would be an adjective i could us to all three here :)

The consistency she maintains amazes me! We all have our ups and downs that decide our moods for the day. Her attitude does not fall prey to these internal forces.. HOW!

Her dedication towards work is unparalleled to anyone's I have seen over the years. The best part is, it doesn't seem like its work for her.. she enjoys it as much as her receiver does.

I speak for my home, my people and specially Tamanna.. but I'm sure this same love and honesty towards her work is what she is catering over 30 years of her life to every home she visits. Blessed are we who have her to teach our child in their most delicate learning age of 0-2 years, this form of giving.

Tamanna's happiness knows no bounds when her favourite maushi aaji's voice touches her ears! She knows and so do I, these next few moments of the day Tamanna will be caressed with care, will know love through touch, will know grace through movement, feel happiness through sight of smiles, take in beautiful music of our tradition and culture through the rhymes recited, get blessings through maushi aaji's singing of Ganga Jamuna and the other sacred waters when she bathes her, will learn new marathi words and how to express herself through action and much more.

I have put in so many words here but they still fail to express my gratitude towards Maushi Aaji. She, to me, is nothing less than an angel.. and I want to take in whatever learning I can from her.

Today being Woman's day, I see her as the quintessential woman and dedicate my respect to her and her work through these words coming straight from my heart.

Lots of love to you Ranjana Maushi πŸ’•πŸ˜˜

PS : I could have given a decorative and flowery heading/title to this post, but the love with which people call you Maushi Aaji- the beauty to 'your title' will remain unmatched.
